Approach

I am Mae, the owner and editor of MAE + CO., a wedding photography team working across Philadelphia, New Jersey and Northeast Pennsylvania. I have been photographing weddings for more than thirteen years. Before that I spent seven years as a certified elementary and special education teacher, which is where the patience came from.

I am self taught, and I grew up in Georgia, so warmth and storytelling sit underneath everything I make. The style is cinematic and directive: I step in and guide when direction is wanted, then get out of the way and watch for the in-between. The glance across a room, the held breath before the doors open, the part nobody staged.

I work alongside a small team of trusted associate photographers, and every finished gallery is curated and edited by me, so the look stays consistent whoever is holding the camera. Photography is not really about documenting a day. It is about keeping how it felt.
